I am having trouble with the loader joystick on the 245 loader on our John Deere 2755. When pushing ahead to lower the loader the forces required were getting worse daily. Pulling back to raise the loader and the bucket tilt functions were OK. Disconnected the cable at the valve and the cable moved freely. Took the tractor to a nieghbors to work in a heated shop. Took the valve off and took the end cap off. I am not sure if the balls were in Ok, but I put it back together and the spools moved freely. Reconnected the cable and the problem was NOT fixed. Checking more carefully I could hear a rasping sound at the joystick. Took the cover off and sprayed WD40 on the cable(Not my first choice, but it is what the neighbor had on hand). The cable seemed to start to ease up then broke. I am getting a new cable tomorrow, but I am wondering, was the cable the problem or did something else cause the cable to break?

John

Is this a push-pull type cable? I have seem them start to bind up when the interior lining starts to break down. Probably failed at the joystick end due to being overstressed over a long period of time.
