I weigh in with Dr. Phil as well. It's kind of like neighbors; if you want to have a good neighbor, be a good neighbor! Clearly some women are more skilled than others due to their background. But for the most part, who doesn't respond to genuine love? Love your wife over the top and you will be richly repaid. I'm no vet but have been married for 20 years. Our marriage gets better every year as I continue to grow up. My thoughts. Glenn F.

Wow...If I remember our 5th Anniversary, I think I got a pair of gloves. You are truly blessed, cherish every moment.
PS: I see you are posting from the Pasadena, CA area, and are raising wheat. What varieties do the best down there, Durum or Red?

Actually We live near Davenport Wa. 40 miles west of Spokane Wa.We ran some old pullmachine combines this last fall JD 36B pulled by a D6 cat,A Harris 30/38 pulled by RD6 cat and a Case V2 pulled by a IHC TD40. The trucks We used were of the same vintage. Belt Pulley Magizine came out and did a article on it.If I can figure out how to submit photos and if anyone is inertested I will try to geter done. Sounds like a great lady. I wish mine was as thoughtful as yours. My wife has never bought me a frickin thing in the 9 years I have been married, other than grocery shopping. I buy her a new Jeep and before that one it was a new Saturn I dont think she appricieates me much. Now she wants to lose weight again, she needs to lose about 30-40 lbs. Like the old saying goes, What is the difference between a wife and a girlfriend.....about 40lbs. After you marry them they pork up.

There's bad women, and just the same, bad men. You've gotta throw out the bad ones before making any judgements.

Women, just like men, react to how they're treated by their mate. If you ignore them, except when you want something, why should you expect any different from them. (Do you seriously believe that you're so danged great that they just cherish every opportunity to serve you?)

My wife has done countless things for me over the years. I try to do the same for her. AND, We don't "keep score" on who did what for who last. We just do for each other because that's what you do in a relationship.

She's gotta be your best friend AND your wife for things to work.

Not everyone finds this kind of relationship. Then when some people do find that one person, they drive them away with their attitude.

It pains me to hear all the negative things men say about woman, and vice-versa. Your mother was a woman, for GODS sake! You want someone saying this kind of stuff about HER?

As usual, Dr. Phil is mostly correct. The only statement that I would question you on is your wife being your best friend. I know it's the current rage to say that but really, a friend is a friend and a wife is a wife, and never the twain shall meet. Now, if you don't have any friends or any best friends, I guess you can say your wife is your best friend. Personally, I'll keep my friends separate from my wife and also, I don't want any of my best friends ending up as my wife, that is another bad scenario. I guess this is getting too confusing so gotta go.

Right on; Nothing on this earth as fine as a good woman..... .I've been blessed beyond anything I could possibly deserve with Mother (deceased), wife and 2 sisters. Understand a "bad" woman can be just as bad as a good one is good, but have no personal knowledge..... You'd have to be of an age to remember, but there was an old song from the '50s (Kitty Wells??) entitled "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky-Tonk Women"..... truer words were never spoken..... ..

Howdy,

Hey now Thurlow, I'm not that old and I know that song. "It wasn't God who made honkey tonk angels" is the real title too :) You just have to have an appreciation for good music. I'm a bluegrass classic country man myself. Nothin like those good old Bill Monroe tunes about the old homeplace. Part of what got me so attached to the farm here. And boy what a blessed man you are Mr. De Voire. I'd trade my college education and anything it will bring me for a steady job, my grandpa's farm, and a good Christian woman. With the kind of junk that my generation is being put through with college and specialized careers, you're in your thirties before you have any kind of stability enough to even think about getting married. Or you're in debt so far that you'll never see the end of it. Or you could be in my boat and never have met a girl who will give you the time of day. Seems the women of my generation would rather have someone who will cuss at and abuse them rather than one who will treat 'em the way God wants us to. Oh well, I think I'll just adopt one of those sweet ladies from my church and forget about gettin married. Opinions?...ha ha. God bless.

Hope your wife isn't a regular on the YT forum sites, or if she is I hope she doesn't know your posting handle. Those other guys must be hiding at least some little bit of unhappiness, it wouldn't be a marriage without it.

We are just over 5 years. Second year of marriage I bought a used tractor on Feb 13th, walked in the house & threw her the keys, said Happy Valentines, she looked at me, got pretty happy about me getting a tractor, & I said no, it's yours, I can't afford anything else for you right now!

Two years later she bought a bigger compact utility tractor & loader for me, I trailered it home Feb 15th....

Now we are arguing over who builds a shed for more equipment, I want the farm to pay for it, she says it'll help me if I have it up sooner....

I got a good one too.
