DLTX71 Carberator Question.
All testing is done on level bench.
Float won't hold fuel level when carb mounted to carb main body. With Carb bowl off of carb main body, and bottom nut hole plugged with cork, the float/ neddle valve assembly holds tight. I've replaced float, needle valve and seat. Any Ideas why when carb bowl is back on carb main body, float will not shut off fuel? I have a clear plastic tube in place of carb bowl drain plug to check float level setting and open end is 6" above carb. When bowl is back on main carb body and fuel valve is opened, fuel just flows out of plastic tube.

Solved, The bowl vent was plugged causing the fuel to syphon out of the bowl, thus allowing the float to never close the needle valve.
I learned a lot about the passage ways in a DLTX carb. Probably should have read a service manual first. Would have saved a lot of time. Whats a good book or manual on the design and service of the DLTX carb ?

Thanks for everyones help.

If it is plugged it allows it to siphon fuel through. Have had it happen a few times

Which drain hole are you hooking the clear tube to? I know this sounds like a stupid question but there are two drains on that carb.

One goes out the side and always has fuel from the tank against it. The other comes out the bottom and is the one to hook to for this test.

Only thing else I can think of is you have something interfering with the float travel when the carb is assembled.

With the carb off the tractor and turned upside down, can you blow through the fuel inlet fitting? You shouldn't be able to that if everything is sealing properly.

No, with the carb upside down, the Needle valve seat combo seems to be holding well.

I've been reading other forum entries, talking about the bowl breather hole being plugged, causing this problem. I don't quite understand why though. If the breather hole is plugged, does this preassurize the bowl, thus not allowing the float to rise and shut off the fuel? Any comments?
