Hey, this category if fun to read! I’ve been looking at this forum for about a year now but have only visited the specific category that pertained to the type of tractor I had. Gosh…not only is this section informative but entertaining as well! You all have great senses of humor!

Take care everyone and have a happy Holiday!

Mike, If you think this category is great now, just wait till someone starts a post that invokes political opinion, then sit back and scratch your head at the limits old geezers will go to to make an argument. Some pre election discussions would make Hannity and Colmbs seem like blood brothers. Thankfully, (I guess) things have toned down considerably since then as predicted.

Dug, I"m sure there are more than a few guys here who would hotly dispute the validity of that "Good Guy" ribbon you"re trying to pin on my chest. Who knows, there may even be a "Swift Tractors Vets for Truth" orginization out there somewhere.

I am old but I don't know if I am a geezer yet. How old do you have to be before you are a geezer? Pay attention to the old people in your life before they are gone.

I hate to bring up all the complications that will now ensue if we try to fit "codger" into the "geezer/ coot" hierarchy. . .

No problem really Both Geezer and Coot can be a Codger! A codger is the fellow in front of you at McDonalds asking for a bucket O chicken. He can't read the menu board and occasionaly drives around with his right turn signal on. Some Geezers fall into this catagory as do some Coots. Coots at Mcicky Ds are generally there with family on Sundays and Codgers are on their way to a sunny state for the winter. They don't have anything but KFC in their home town and believe anyplace with a drive up window has chicken including banks.

Chief, My grandkids thought I was a "geezer" by the time I was in my early 40"s. Its been downhill ever since, and I"m 65 now. My son once asked me if there were lots of Indians around when I was a little boy. That was in 1965 and I must have looked like a geezer to him by that time and I was only 25 then.

37 Chief,

I'd guess, from your handle, that you were born in 1937...a he__ of a good year, I would say. I live in Florida (for the last 27 years) and have learned a few new terms. One is "Early Codgerdom" and another is "Early Geezerdom".

There's also a term..."Creakies". These are folks who creak when they walk amd have nowhere to go and all day to get there. I'm not there yet, but I sure hope to get there one of these days.

Well, mentioning a '37 Indian Chief, i guess i'm an old codger, since i had a 1936 Indian Chief, which i bought in 1947, and rode it for 3 years, until i got married, which put the "kebosh" on the bike, and i didn't get another one until 1982, after the house was paid for, and the wife got her swimming pool! I had to get a Honda-matic, since i couldn't work the foot shift with my wooden foot, (a consequence of WW II). Now, at the age of 80, i'm toying with the idea of selling it! I say that every winter, but when spring comes, in goes the battery, i drain the old gas out of the carbs, start it up, and go riding! I'm the oldest guy attending the night-time rallies around here!I don't want to quit, but some dreamy gal may make me quit when she hammers into me at a traffic light, or takes her half of the road out of the middle! by: RJ

You are a Geezer up to the point when you are a Coot. You know you are a Coot when you can't spell Geaser.

In an attempt to avert any argument or fight pending on the definition of "geezer" or "coot", let me set the record straight.

Oxford defines "geezer" (spelled "geezer") as an old man. However, and much to my dismay, "coot" (spelled "coot") is defined as a stupid person. Therefore, by taking liberty with the age by which the AARP allows membership into their group, one could deduce a geezer is a man age 55 and over. Continuing to follow the definitions as outlined by Oxford, once a geezer has lost the ability to correctly spell "geezer" they automatically become a coot. Soooo, not to point fingers, Sloroll, but how did you spell "geezer" on your second attempt? Could we have just witnessed an old geezer becoming a coot right before our very eyes?

Have a good one,

Dug

Sloroll sez, "Got my rascle in reverse."

Dug replies, My rascal's in nuetral, been there for quite some time. Lets see, I've been married about 9 years, yep, been in nuetral 8 1/2 years. Kinda makes me feel like a coot for getting married in the first place.
