I have been trying to figure this picture posting thing out! Here's what I have done:

Posted pics to my MSN page and linked the URL, it doesn;t show up on this forum.

Tried the Talers Upload, but for some reason the "upload" will not finish.

Tried the Galleries, same result as the Talers upload, it won't finish the uploading process.

What advise can you all offer.

Dug, who is very frustrated and ready to start kicking the dog.

Hi Dug,

It sounds to me like your picture might be quite large and you may not be waiting long enough for it to upload completely. The newer multi-megapixel cameras can produce huge file sizes if used with the default setting. That is not only inappropriate for posting in forums but it takes a while to upload. Personally I would shoot for a maximum picture size of 640x480 pixels for web posting. The MSN site appears to require membership registration to view pictures. That is probably why your picture does not show up in your post below. If you are in .jpg format and a reasonable size, there should be no problem with uploading to this site and linking from a post box.

Also make sure you don't use any wierd characters or spaces in the file name. Sometimes that can be a problem. Keep it to standard letters and numbers only.

Hi Rod,

I had a feeling that the picture size was messing me up. How do I shrink it?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug,

Most available image editing software will have the capability to resize digital photos. You may have something already on your computer that could do it. Possibly the software that came with your camera could also. If not, there are some freeware titles available on the net for download. Here's a dedicated free resizer. I can't personally vouch for it since I have never tried that specific one but I expect it would work fine.

Do you have the pictures you're uploading to Tales or YT in .jpeg format?
