Does anyone know any tricks to setting a plow. I believe the plow is an overum 3x16 3 point hitch mount. The tractor we are trying to get it to work with is a Leyland 2100. Any help would be nice. Thanx Steve

Start by adjusting tractor tread width so that first plow is 16 in from insidewall of tire. With plow sitting on level ground back up to it but with your left wheels rolled up on 8 in blocks. Now sdjust your hitch(top link last) to meet the plow. Probably want to shorten top link a couple turns to give the plow a little tilt to aid soil penetration. As points wear, tweak right side lift crank & top link as necessary.

The center line of draft of any moldboard plow is one-fourth bottom width to the left of center of total cutting width. That lines up with the centerline of the tractor, and then adjust the furrow wheel in or out so it runs next to the furrow wall.

That gets him into the field; when we used to plow , we ran F145H semi-mount John Deeres (in later years); only mounted plows I ever ran that you could set at the shop and not have to adjust after you got to the field. All three-point hitch ones I ever ran, you had to reset every time you mounted them..... I guess because the tractor had been used for something else or you had adjusted the center link or lift arm to get it hitched up..... ...

Hi Guy,

I found the easiest way to adjust that centerlink for lift was to just totally unhook it from the plow during the first time thru the field. That way, it isn't trying to "adjust your plow for you" and isn't gettin' in the way of things.

Also on this pass, a guy would set the hitch depth so that the forward bottom cut the same depth as the back bottom.

By the end of the second round, a fella ought to pretty well have the thing so it isn't leaving "rows".
