John,there must be a lot more to this story. I don't know you,but I do know and respect Vern Otto. Over the last 3 years my son and I have purchased 10 tractors from Vern. We have purchased several on E*BAY,on farm auctions,and private treaty ads. Vern's tractors were the most accurately described. The E*BAY tractors the most inaccurate descriptions. Most of these old low-priced Canadian tractors are for sale for a reason; there is something wrong that is too much trouble and expense for the farmer to fix,or it is on a farm auction,where all the neighbors,dealers,auctioneers and competing jockeys passed on that tractor before it was offered up to the internet audience. If you waited 4 months to haul it,you found that our rapidly weakening dollar and skyrocketing diesel prices doubled the cost of transportation. That isn't Vern's fault. Vern does not deserve to have his character impugned by a cheap shot on a discussion board. Thank you, Joe

Either you are vern otto or paid by him or just very lucky..For your info HE not me would not send the tractor for 4 months ,said it ran good ,When we got it flat tire and all would not start and when it did ran like poop..He is a liear a cheat a thief and his word isnt worth a plug nickle ..That is why he wont accept checks in the mail ...Use the Us mail system then its mail fraud do not wire him money like he wants us to ...I hope he never comes to the USA ..He deserves to go to jail for all his dealings...

How about buying a "field ready" tractor? This particular tractor had a whole list of new parts and stuff that was done to it. List of new parts and what description should have been: recent clutch-maybe, but weak; recent brakes- grab and jerk; recent bearing and syncros and bearings in transmission-growls and 5th gear is out;
new batteries and seat-it did have these two;
recent overhaul-maybe, but forgot to mention hole in the block that was patched with JB Weld that leaks;
new paint-quick sandblast and paint with sand still on some of it:
95% rubber-rear yes, front yes, but with deep and long cuts in between the ribs.
Forgot to mention oil running out of front main and front PTO.
When asked about the hole in the block, Vern said he should have told us about it. You Think!

In contrast, we have bought 7 or 8 tractors off of E*BAY and haven't had a bit of trouble. In the hundreds of parts and manuals we have bought we have had trouble with only two people.

I have delt with Vern in the past. It was a good experience, however, I went to his home and picked up my own tractor. He knew I was going to do that when I made the purchase, so I suppose he knew it best be an accurate sale.
