Here"s your answer. First don"t think I know this, I called my sister who is uppity. I buy wine that is for sale 3 bottles for $5. Like Boones Farm or MD 20/20.

Cabernet: Braised, roasted, or grilled lamb or roast beef, and chocolate desserts. Shiraz: Strong meats. (I never even heard of this)
Sauvignon: chicken, duck, pheasant, fish, seafood, pasta.

I believe your best answer to your question would come from the US government, they have a bunch of folks over at the ATF, just to answer those puzzling holiday questions. Ever wonder what type of wine goes with an M-16? Well it depends on what you're smokin -- GRIN -- Rick

Well, just get yourself some Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill; no personal experience, but goes with everything..... ....so I'm told. (grinning..... maybe laughing)

If you're gonna cook the bird, try my guaranteed recipe...

Never Fail Turkey

(Prepare the night before)

Clean your sink, put turkey in sink, and rinse inside and out, then pat dry with paper towels.

Put in preheated 500 degree oven and leave in until skin is crisp and golden.

Take out and baste with (real) butter inside and out.

Cover with a clean dish towel then douse the towel and turkey with a semi-sweet white wine. There should be enough wine to cover the bottom of the pan and keep the towel wet. This will keep the turkey basted and juicy, and make a great broth for your gravy.

Cover tightly with wide heavy duty foil.

Turn oven down to 425 degrees and put turkey in. Cook for 1 ½ hours – turn oven off and go to bed. DO NOT open oven (put duct tape on door as a reminder).

1 hour before serving, take foil and towel off and drain drippings to make gravy. Put uncovered turkey in preheated oven @ 325 degrees for 45 minutes.

You're wrong this time Bud. This recipe will work for any size bird and cooks it perfectly every time. I have used it for decades, and no complaints yet. Follow it just as written and you'll be a turkey hero!

The old match the colors will probably work but to paraphrase Justin Wilson, "Whatever kind you like."

Colors match. White meat, white wine, converse is true.

My wife and I like Gewurtztraminer, but it's really a matter of taste. My wife also likes Martinelli's sparkling cider with the Thanksgiving meal, but I don't care for it.

White Zinfandel(sp?) - tart, or Chatteau La Salle - sweet. Just my preferences.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I was gonna say, Why would you ruin good likker with turkey? I guess some of grandpa's recipe could be called "white". Never really thought of having it with a meal before though. Now Jim Beam and Coke seems to go with most anything. Makes the turkey taste better too. Don't notice the burned parts or else don't care. Later, Harley
