Well its opening day here in New York tomorrow(gun season)maybey a few other states too.Just wanted to wish everybody good luck and be safe. I wanted to point out that it seems most hunting accidents I have read over the years seem to be hunters in there 40s and 50s,which includes me.I think that we get careless with all the wisdom that we think we have from being in the woods all these years. So lets try and remember that,we dont want to deter any up and coming young hunters, which seem to becoming a dying breed.

Good Luck and Be Safe

Stan

I hope the shallow minds stay home. I got buzzed twice within 5 seconds last year in my yard. When you can hear the whistle of the bullets, they are close! I know from my experience in the "nam" in 71! I found two idiots about 2000 yds. from my house at ground level! Never ever pull a triger on a gun unless you know for sure where the final destination of the bullet is going to be. NO deer is worth taking a chance on somebody's life. I'm not down on deer hunters. Only those who have no sense and should never be armed with anything more potent than a pea shooter!

I was in a swamp North of Chelsea, MI back in '72 when bullets came whizzing through the cat-tails around me. Didn't know whether to crawl or run! That was the last time I've been hunting.

Fire arm deer season here in Mi. is from Nov. 15th to the 30th...

I shot my buck opening day here on my farm, just like i have been doing so every year now for a long time.

In ILL they only have 2 3day shotgun seasons that puts about 200,000+ over zelous people out into woods, what we need is 4 seasons for shotguns that way they can split the people into 2 groups to lessen the pressure and harvest more deer. And a rifle season would be nice but the state is to anal to let that happen. Oh well what do you expect when the people let a few from Chicago set the rules.

Good luck and be safe on your hunts. Late gun season just ended here in eastern Washington on friday. I took a decent 4x4 buck. Not a monster but the big ones are getting hard to find around here.

Read the MSNBC home page. One guy shot 5 others over a deer stand dispute. I really don't want tighter gun controls, we've got too many now, but this kind of craziness really fuels the brady bunch.

I saw the story. 5 dead and 3 wounded. There is no deer in the world that is worth killing another hunter over. Things like this give all hunters a bad name since non-hunters never hear the good stories. I just pray that this never happens again and that the families of the dead and injured will be ok somehow. I can't imagine this happening so close to the holidays.

Hi Ray,

The news here said it all started because a hunter was refused premission to hunt on private land.

Unbelievable to how some people handle stress.
