Mike, I did the same thing to my 630 about twenty years ago and I haven't had a bit of trouble with the shaft since then. I use it for loader use year-round. The 620 orchard's governor housing was already drilled and tapped because they used a bigger hyd pump, and the late 630's came with the hole there too, but it had a pipe plug in it, so mine was as easy as unscrewing the plug and piping oil to it. I don't know why Deere didn't pressure lube all of them from the factory.

Let me attempt to answer again as on my first one I lost my connection. What type of hydraulic equipment are you running ? On the AR tractors built before the 60 they used a roller bearing in there instead of a bushing.I would think this was better but I don't know why they switched. I fixed a 620 that had this problem from running on a feed grinder which has hydraulic motors on the augers. This puts a constant load on the pump and idler gear which these tractors were not designed for back then. I drilled and tapped the governor case and teed into the oil line going up to the gauge and feed oil pressure into the center of the shaft and plugged the little oil hole where the oil drips into around the pin that locks the shaft from turning with silicone sealer. I'm going to try to post before it's lost again. If you need more details we'll try again.
