Is anybody making large flat belts, like to drive a thresher from the pulley on the side of our old tractors? Or do you just buy old ones?

Perhaps the Acme Flat Belt and Buggy Whip company...

Hit N Miss enterprises in Ohio has a good supply of belting and the old style lacer or aligator clips. The belts they sell are good belts, not the plastic ones you find in farm stores or such. That is their business. Old engines, parts and supplies. Web sight is:

Lynn,

When I need flat belting for a lathe, mill,

drill press, or planer I go to baltimore belting.

Not too expensive for small belts but I don't

know how much for large ones . They are on 25th

st in the heart of the dark section .

McMaster-Carr industrial supply (www.mcmaster.com) has flat belts in urethane, rubber, and leather. And they have Alligator Transmission belt lacing sets. Be sure to be sitting when you look at the prices for leather belts.

Try your local bearing and power transmission store. Like Motion Ind. or Applied Ind. Tech. Those are the two largest. Although if you have a locally owned distributor, they'll probably be a little more willing to help you on an item like that. They should be able to order it for you. If you don't have any luck email me, and I give our supplier a call.

Your local round baler dealer can make you a new one or they might have some used that will work.

ex-cel on the www does baler belts. Whether or not they do closed flat belts, dunno. Askin wouldn't hurt. Ask them about their alligator fastner for joining the belt.

Could be. But they sell a variety of things. Ex-cel sells belting. Whom would you trust to build your house. A hamburger flipper, or a mason?
