A show said the farmer harvested grass seed and cut for hay. What would be the process to harvest grass seed?

One of the latest setups is to use a rotating brush that looks like the ones on a street sweeper with a pan behind to catch the seed. The whole system is mounted on an endloader so the height can be varied easily.

I used a Massey Harris model 30 pull type combine (adjusted for seed type) to harvest fescue and orchard grass seed. The more serious seed growers swath the hay and then after curing they use combines with cut crop heads to harvest. Gave it up, seed business is tough and a very low value product unless you are into premium certified varieties, plus the hay has to be so mature its only useful as mulch.

Grass seed is harvested with a correctly setup combine just like wheat or oats.
