With the consolidations within the ag industry, we're going to all have to get used to "remote" dealers. I've found that you can do quite a bit with a parts book and a telephone, and they usually get parts to you overnight. 25 years ago, we had every tractor make represented by a dealer in our town- now, we have JD and Kubota.

yes, i agree.

I have a JD dealer about 5 minuites away and my nearest MF is about an hour away (UK) But, out of princile i refuse to go to the JD guys for anything. They are very rude and ridiculously expensive for everything. I drive to the MF dealer.

I personally think that MF tractors are so much better than JD. and not just the old ones.

Start looking for an AGCO dealer (Allis, White, Oliver, Massey, ect) They are all one big happy family.

Massey Ferguson did real well in my neck of the woods. There are still a number of dealers around here. They were popular tractors in tobacco country. They built (in my opinion) the best small utility tractors ever produced.

There should be an AGCO dealer of some sort in your area. John

BR(before retirement)I, we had two,no three C IH dealers in the area. 4 JD. FNH,Kabota and Agco. All were within an hours drive. CIH being the closest. 10 min.

Here I not sure. I know CIH and Kubota are close. JD and FNH are not much further and Agco must be around somewhere.None of the dealers are over an hour away.

JD is used mostly for tillage work. JD and CIH are used for baling hay. NH and Kubota are used in the pecan orchards.

In the town I was born at in 1961 there were 7 dealerships.

now the closest one is 25miles away and its a caseIH... JD is 40, MF is 60, FHN is 30.

One local JD dealer lost exactly half its customer base in the 10yrs it was in business do to retirement, forcloser and beeign forced out. and that had been an established Deere dealer. In 1979 we had the 3rd largest (volume) MF dealer in the nation.. it closed in1981....

1 4x4 replaced 4 4020's so you lose 3 farmers. see how that works... but we call it progress its actually regress.
