Bought at auction a Monarch blade and old truck to plow the lane. Hydraulic lift works fine but doesn't tilt/turn left or right. Hoses are very difficult to connect. What could be the problem? Any advice greatly appreciated.

On my Monarch lift, there is a terminal on the side of the solonoid that can be disconnected. this prevents the motor from tunning when keying the controller. I just disconnect that wire, go back to the cab, activate the left-right control back and forth a few times and that relieves the pressure on the lines, allowing easy connect and disconnect. Have had my lift unit for a number of years, am very pleased with it's performance. really like the rocker switches instead of a joystick. Just don't go off and leave the down button in the down/float position! Will run down your battery.

If the hoses have quick disconnects on them, you have to relieve the pressure...generally, with the unit shut off, you just work the hydraulic until the pressure bleeds off. If that wasn't done, then you'll have manually release the pressure..you could crack the nut where the hose attaches or...you could take the end of the quick disconnect and compress the fitting on the end on something and the fluid will squirt out. There won't be much but it will relieve it.
