Can anyone recommend doing business with either of these guys? I am interested in importing several vintage/classics into the UK.Any other names of reliable traders and shipping companies would be useful.
Thanks

A couple of years ago I bought a tractor from Vern. He was very helpful in setting up the shipping, but when it got here the "factory" round spokes were cutoffs. The pictures he sent me of the tractor were unclear so I asked him SEVERAL times to confirm the wheels were factory before sending him money. I am still waiting on Vern to make good on our deal and send the factory front wheels that he swore were on the tractor. I am not holding my breath. Good luck - but be REAL CAREFUL! ChuckG

Be careful with BB. Heard to many reports tractors weren't as complete as shown in the pictures. I would only beleieve half of what he says. If you know what your buying and ask the right questions you could be ok. Lot of his original tractors, no parts missing, stored inside all it's life, very rare, every thing works is sometimes missleading.
beware

My dad and I have dealt with Vern for about five years and we have found him to be straight forward about everything. If you ask a question he will give you an honest answer. We have bought numerous tractors from Vern over the past five years and we have always been satisfied with them. There is a huge amount of trust involved with buying a tractor sight unseen and we have never been disappointed with Vern.

I don't know a thing about Vern Otto, but search the archives for Ben Burns. There has been plenty said on here about him.

Hi BB,

If it was me I would spend the $100 or so a tractor and send someone to check out what I was going to buy. I've tried several times to buy tractors via the internet and have yet to buy one.

I see a big trend is to have them call you and alot of sellers will not converse via e-mail. In fact it's very difficult just to get a discription via e-mail.

Makes me wonder if there written word is much different than the telephone conversastions???

As stated, search the archives as this has been discussed before.
