Looking at purchasing a compac tractor in the 15-25 hp range. Ones under considerations are:

Shabirito (spelling ?) (Japan) NH Boomer TZ24DA CashIH Farmall DX24E

Kubota BX 2230 (Japan)

Iseki (Japan) Massy Ferguson GC2300

Daihatsu (China? Korea?) Cub Cadet 5234D

Yanmar (Japan) John Deere 2210

Think all are in the $11,000 to $12,000 range with a loader and remote Hydralics.

They all seem to have simular specs. Hydro control seems to be the big vairable.

How reliable are the mentioned sub compac tractors. I'm looking for small but want something more that a lawn mower? Do I just pick the color I like and go for that?

The Japanese seem to have mastered the great leveling effect. I think all those tractors are probably very similar in quality. Find a good dealer or dealers, and then price them out. You seem to understand who builds what, so I won't go into that. Good luck.

All of the tractors are probabaly good, but only as good as your local dealer support. Buy the brand that has a dealer close to you that treats you like a person. One of my pet peeves on these hydro tractors-- Only one manufacture knows that people only have one right foot so they put the brake pedals on the left side where you actually can USE the individual brakes with your left foot while running the hydro with your right foot. Check them out and see for yourself. I don't think anyone copied them yet.If you find more than one let me know.

The Kubota. They are the best in this "niche." Just look at the overall ruggedness, how the hydraulic lines are routed, simple stuff like that. There is really no other brand that matches up in this market segment.

The case IH and the Newholland are the same machine except one is red and the other is Blue. I looked at the Newholland tc24 gear drive, it was $11,000 very good for the price, and the Kubota was a little less. I would recommend the Kubota or the CaseIH newholland. Deere is too much $$$, unless your rich. the Yanmar well Dont know anything about them. Therre is a company called Saukville tractor, all USA made go to www.saukvilletractor.com and see, diesel, gas it is only rear wheel drive.

I hear alot of people talk good about Kubota. Also the Yanmar (JD) is respected. Dealer service/availability could probably be more important in your decision.

I have not had any personal experience with any except for the Kubota, those little orange tractors are built very well, and have an excellent track record. If you were to need parts and service, the dealer you bought it from will be able to take care of whatever you need.

I just purchased a Kubota 2910 and am very satisfied. It was my second "orange" tractor. My other one is a 3430. I have two "green" tractors and found for the money I couldn't beat Kubota. Deere was too dear!
