I have a trip bucket that I am wanting to add hydraulics to the bucket. My plans are to add two double acting cyinders to the bucket. My plans go different from everyones else in the fact that I don't have money to add a expense values at this time or pump. Here is my plan I currently run my loader by the external port (ferguson to-20) Out of the port I have a ball value that I use to turn off/on to hold the loader in place. My plans are to T in the circut before the value splitting the line to another ball value. From this new value I will control the Pull side of the double acting cylinder. Pulling the bucket up into place. When I remove hyd. presure by turning off my three point pump and opening the value the presure should push the fluid back out of the cylinder causing the bucket to lower at a slower rate. I will then turn back on the three point pump to pull the bucket back up into place. Gravity will still dump the bucket but will more controled by closing the value bucket would stop the dump at any time. Please give me you thoughts and Ideas.

I would not use the push side of the Double acting cylinder.

I think you will be buying yourself one big headache. If you get the line T'd and that works, what are you going to be able to do with one-way cylinders? If you use the cylinders to tip the bucket up, it's going to take quite a load to dump it, much more than if it were still a trip bucket. If you use the cylinders to tip the bucket down, how are you going to get it to come back to level? Is the weight of the loader and bucket going to be enough to overcome the cylinders when you let it down? As I said, I think you are buying or building a real headache. Trip bucket loaders aren't perfect for every job, but they do handle a lot of jobs pretty well.

I can't comment on how well this set up will work and I don't know how your finances are but, one of the things I have learned over the years is that if I think I am about to do something half @ssed, I will regret it later. And end up spending the money later to get it to work right. Then I am out the time and money spent initially.

My $.02

John

Are the ball valves you are using rated for the pressure provided by the hydraulics? Could be dangerous.

Might work but not well, I'd done a couple of them and the 2 cylinders do work the best if they are long enough.
