I found this site becaues I have an old Ford tractor. How is it that on a TRACTOR DISCUSSION FORUM, is there a thread about politics????

Not only that it has the most replies of any thread.

I read a few posts and just started laughing.

Peace out
Jack for president

It is no surprise that the political discussions get the most posts and are the most interesting to read. It is all good. Read what you like, respond to what you want and ignore what you don't like.

I think it was Will Rogers that said "No sense having your candidate in the White House. I"d rather spend the next four years criticizing the guy, than apologizing for him."

Leland, Politics should, and will always be discussed. makes no differnce to me when or where in an election year, in the local barber shop or a tractor forum, I love a good political discussion. sometimes I only read and never post. But you know" the thing that bugs me, is the ones that cry about political post. If your mouse is in rebellion you need to take control.

I"ve got to respond with a story on a regional talk radio show a couple of weeks ago.

It seems there was a gntleman that had a political sign in his yard that supported a particular candidate. The signs were stolen and replaced several times (it happened across the border in Vancouver, WA).

One night the person thought that he would wait out the perpetrator and greet him with his dog on a leash.

Sure enough about 1AM a car drove down the street and stopped near his house. Someone got out of the car and walked onto his lawn. Somehow the dog pulled the leash out of the owners hand and pinned the suspect against his car. The property owner walked over and opened the door of the still running car and pushed the door lock button, then closed the door and grabbed the leash for his dog and walked off.

Not long after there was a knock on his door. When he answered the door there stood the suspect with a sherriff"s deputy. The property owner walked out to the vehicle with the deputy and the suspect.

The property owner told the officer that he thought he detected alcohol on the suspects breath. The deputy admisnistered a breath-alyzer and the person blew higher than the legal limit.

Then the owner recognized the person as someone that lived in the neighborhood and asked him why he was a Washington resident with an Oregon plate on his car ( a lot of people do this to get around WA sales tax).

Needless to say the suspect spent a few days in jail which he should have.

I deliberately left out the party affiliation here because it is not important, just the fact that somebody actually beat these no-count idiots.

I just cant wait till it is over with. Now every other day one of the partys see's fit to call me and think they can sway my vote their way, except that Nader guy lol.
The part that make me laugh is the dihard REP. or DEM. that get red in the face when defending thier hero, almost to the point of fighting and long time friend.Ive seen them get and leave a Restaurant's.
Or these grown adults are out stealing the others signs, believing those things even make a diff.
This election is getting way to negative.

One of the posts below mentions that it's a free country which of course it is. But only to the extent of someone's rules that are set out. There have been a large number of replies regarding the same question as yours and they often say the same thing, namely "nobody can tell me what to talk about because it's a free country", etc. But when you visit a store or somebody's house or your local church or are driving down the road, you are expected to abide by whatever rules have been set by those in charge. For example, no nose-picking while handling vegetables, no farting at the table, keep within the speed limits, etc. But of course here at Tractor Talk, those guidelines are thrown aside because we live in a democracy. Doesn't make sense but we keep doing it.

they wouldn't talk the same way or project the same tone of the conversation that is done here.

It always amazes me as to how much "tougher" and "braver" a person is on a net board vs real life.

You probably see the posts because when issues hit close to home people feel the need to respond.
When a man can get elected president and appoint judges that can and will legislate and change laws from the bench, people feel the need to respond.
When a man can get elected president and encourage changing the basic moral structure of our society, people feel the need to respond.
When a man can get elected president and change the way we interpret the constitution, find immoral validation there and take away rights guaranteed there, people feel the need to respond.

Probably it is because we still live in a free country, and don"t have to worry about who listenes to what we talk about.

This is the first political thread I've responded to. I definitely lean one way, most of my close friends lean the other. We have a lot of fun discussing/argueing over a few cold ones. We both freely admit the stupid things our guys do. It's not all one sided.

I too have been laughing at most of the posts. No sense in getting all worked up about it, anyone who has an opinion about it isn't going to get their mind changed that easily.

Why the have the most replies? Well, naturally, not everyone can fix a tractor, but everyone can fix the world's problems. Simple as that!
