I have a 1950 Ford 8N tractor with no battery which I am trying to get to run. Is it poitive or negative ground? what is the firing order. If I am hot wiring a positive ground would it be from the negative side of the batterery to the positive side of the coil then? thanks John Ayres

The Ford 8N came from the Ford factory with a positive ground, 6V system (do you have an original generator or an alternator on the tractor?).
Firing order is 1, 2, 4, 3 CCW.
Wiring a positive ground is;
1. Connect the heavy cable (1/0 cable) that goes to the starter solenoid to the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Connect your ground strap to the positive terminal of the battery.

You'll probably get more replies, if you post your questions over on the 9N, 2N, 8N board... That's where most of us "N Series Nuts" hang out....

From battery negative to coil negative then from coil positive to the points.
