While using my tractor the last time I noticed on serveral occasion that when I put the hydro tranny in forward, it would not move and while going forward it some times would bucking like I was letting the clutch out to fast on a manual tranny car.

Any ideas on what the problem could be or where to start looking for the problem.

When you move the SR lever (that is the lever to make it move)) it does two things. One is moves the servo control and moves the spool on the drive control valve. The drive control valve has a spool the moves in and out when you go from forward to reverse. Some times the spool will not move and then as you go foward it slides out and boom it starts to move. Check for wear in the lever some times it will cut a grove in the SR lever and then it will not move the spool, not sure if you have a farmall or international so make sure you hood is tight.

Well... Stupid response I'm sure. Have you checked or replaced the fluid and the filters? I hope that is it because the Hydro pretty much is more costly than buying another tractor. Around here it is a little over 4K to fix/replace those hydro units.

Not a stupid response. Am a first time tractor owner. Am just learning about these things.

I just took ownership of the tractor, I bought the house and land from the owner and they rented backed from use until the end of Sept., we decided to buy the tractor too. About a month ago he showed me how to use the tractor and last weekend was the first I used it. So to answer your question no I have not checked or replaced the fluid or filter. I will check next time.

Are there any adjustment to be made on the Hydro?

Got order a manual for this thing.

I don't know as far as adjustments. I came close to buying a 656 hydro about half a year ago and a friend that had one warned me of bad hydro replace the tractor syndrome. I then went with a standard transmition IH w/TA instead. I did like running that 656 though. Man it was smooth. Do get a manual. There may be a trouble shooting area on line within the Red Power site.
