Hi Slo,

It is scheduled for 8am tomorrow so I'm just gearing up for the derned planned outage...juice just doesn't go out here very often and we've been putting off buying this darned generator for a long time. Plus, we gotta have a regulated model that throws a clean spark=extra $, don’t ya know.

But, I guess we had to finally bite the bullet 'cause bein' down would cost us a heck of a lot more than this goofy thing.....

Hope I bought a big enough one. If I turn off everything except the four servers and the uplinks, I think we'll be okay.....shall know in the morning. :>)

Thanks for the hollar,

Allan

These darned things are heavy!

Had to use the loader to get it out of the truck. Geeeze! Where's that comin' from anyway?

Do yourself a big favor and have UPS's between that generator and those PCs/Servers.

You said you have existing UPS's, make sure to use UPS's between them. Not only do Gens fluctuate in CPS, which in itself will not hurt your equipment, but they throw some serious spikes. I've put "Dranitz" power meters on Gens and measured spikes topping 200 VAC so frequently that the darn things never stopped spittin out data. They are very dirty power, unless start talking those mega $$$ giga-watt jobs we use, and we still use UPS's between them and the equipment for insurance.

That "insurance" that I was reffering to was filtering equipment damaging spikes primarily, supplting reserve power secondary. Good UPS's filter pretty good, and are much cheaper to replace than the equipment they protect.

It's the cost of doing business.

I am surprised you found one, so soon after the hurricanes.... Word has it that most inventories were shipped to Fla.

Yes Sir,

The fella that owns the store said that people were stopping by on their way back home from vacationing up here at Mr Rushmore and pickin' him clean.

I dunno if this trick is gonna work or not, but if it doesn't, I'm gonna have some really mad doctors on my hands..... oh well, what' new. :>)

Talk at ya later,

Allan

Those Hondas are a great machine. While I was in AK we would run a 55 gal barrel of bug juice to ours and run it nonstop for weeks. Good luck, my best to you Bill
