Whats the price of diesel fuel in other places? Here in western NC it is at $2.15 and still going. Being self employed it keeps getting harder to make a dollar. I feel for the farmers and anybody else that has to use a lot. Wonder when or if biodiesel will catch on. Danny Hearl

I agree with just about every thing previously said I also do not like the costs of fuels. However, considering all costs of petroleum infrastructure, exploration, drilling, transport, refining and marketing, how do they do it.I live in Texas. An 8 ounce glass of iced tea is $1.25.That equates to $ 20.00 per gallon and no one complains that a small bottle of water costs a buck and it's selling like hotcakes.Coffee is even more expensive.Go figure.Hopefully fuel costs will return to some sane level, but the other items mentioned will probably keep going up.I am not trying to insite a riot but think about other costs. All of the above just burn my hide.

If you can find it use polar power with z-4 it was a red fuel treatment and it drove the cops nuts bacause they thought they had a major bust when they saw red fuel then I pulled out my jug.

I'd love to have to pay what some of you are paying for diesel. Its a down right bargain compared to the 2.39 a gallon I pay. Just keeps going up with no end in sight.

I paid $2.07 a gallon last week end here when I topped off the old ford f-350, got a real big extra tank on it so I can go a long time between fuel up"s but I have been keeping her full so I don"t end up having to top them off at $2.50 or more, think I might park it and drive the old ranger for the winter

I've seen signs for $2.07 for diesel. I filled up last night and used Kroger's plus card 'bonus'... $.10/gallon off and got theirs at $1.89...

I'm northwest of Houston, where typically fuel prices a little lower than elsewhere in the country, but looks kinda like that has about changed...

Just watch out, you know they like to "dip" the tanks and look for the color dye in the fuel, got the tanks in my ford f-350 dipped by the DOT on the way to an auction a month ago, really something when the government has the right to stop me in my little non-commercial operated pickup to check my fuel, with no probable cause, hope he didn't have too much water and dirt on the tube he stuck into my fuel tanks, and the paper they gave me said it was a $1000.00 fine if I refused to let them do it, might be cheeper to just pay the $1000.00 fine for refusal than to pay to re-do the fuel system, the injectors are close to $400.00 each for these pluse the pump, and if you ever replace an injector and have trouble with it, it might be a bad one from the factory, just had a friend that had a new one put in his truck that was bad from the factory, he found out that they don't test them before they send them out. Also the best one I herd was a guy by Sandstone MN. had the DOT come into his yard this summer and dip the tanks on an old truck with expired plates that he just uses on the farm, it hasn't been on the road in years, but the loop-hole in the law was that if it had plates on it, expired or not they could check it, and he had off road fuel in it and got the fine, just look at all the extra money that government spends on stuff, and they say that they don't have enought, ya, right..

Most do not know that with a ISP # they can track you down to your location.

This is a little off topic but not far. I run an airport here in Iowa. I play with airplanes and restore old tractors for myself (winter work). I'm in heaven with a big toybox (not much money in it though). Anyway, Jet fuel is nothing but Grade A Kerosene (Clean Diesel). I'll throw in a tip here to you purist with all-fuel tractors... get your kerosene at the airport. To you people that don't run your gas tractor much get some avgas (100 low lead) at the airport too and put it in your tanks, run your tractor a while with it before winter storage. Auto gas starts to break down to varnish in less than two weeks. Avgas has a shelf life of three years (true story folks). No more stuck carborators in the spring (great for motor cycles too). Back to subject: A year ago JetA was around $1.90 / gal and now I sell it for $2.55 many local airports are well over $3.00/gal now. I don't see an immediate end in the price increases. A small busines jet will burn around 700 gal from southern CA to central IA. pretty easy math to determine why those jumbo carriers are going belly up. The only thing more obnoxious than the skyrocketing price of fuel is the 20%-28% increase in insurance rates each of the last 5 years. Evidently they want me to personaly replace a couple of NY sky scrapers. That is why I can't get rid of my crappy car.

diesel here is 2.30 gal and no end in sight.Earlier post wanted to know where our food will come from,it will come from out of the country. We got dependant on foreign oil and look at the price were paying for that. When we get dependant on foreign food don't be surprised when the price of that goes up.Won't bother Kerry, I read somewhere his tax return for last year was in the 6 mil income range.Instead of a tax break we will all get a bottle of ketchup

Funny story about the Avgas. During WWII, a plane had engine trouble and set down in the river "bottoms" (floodplain) here. Nice dead engine landing, pilot walked away. During gas rationing. Within a couple of days, the plane fuel tanks were dry- imagine that!

Yes I burn 100ll in my gas tractors and use it in my motorcycle when storing for the winter. I have to sump my av bulk tanks so I have it readily available that would other wise be waste. I wouldn't burn it exclusively if I had to pay pump price. Many local restorers get five gal or so of 100ll to overwinter with. It is nothing more than 100 octane with a small amount of lead and preservatives. Kind of like what you used to get before fuels went unleaded and started to burn valves in our old hunks of iron. I use JetA too in all-fuels or with kerosene manifolds. I use it occasionaly in diesel applications especially in the winter where I might gel up. Kero burns dryer than diesel so if I am running it alot I may mix just a hint of Marvel Mystery Oil for a little lube quality. Remember it is unlawful to road these fuels but to use for tractors especialy for storage purposes it is wonderful stuff. 100ll will not damage old fuelines or rubber like ethenol will either. I bet some of your puller friends now the value of 100ll too.

I finally bit and put No. 2 fuel oil in my twin tanks in the basement at 1.60/gallon. Mind you it's a nonwinterized blend without road taxes.

Held off all summer because I figured I'd buy at a buck ten and it never got below a buck 25. You know what they say about procrastination...

Talked to the delivery guy today and he told me it went up yesterday to 1.85/Gal for No.2.

I'm just north Madison, WI.

You are at about the nothern edge of where #2 fuel oil can be used year around. At about -30F #2 thickens and won't flow to your furnace/fuel-pump. One winter I counted 25 semis on the edge of the freeway between Menominie & St Paul when the temp hit -40F. They bought cheaper #2 fuel in the south (Madison perhaps) and sat on the side of the road until it warmed up.

we are working on building a bio plant here in IN.

BioDiesel costs more than reg fuel (slightly). Costs more to produce even though it takes less energy to start with but thats profit takers.

anyway I cant buy it. I have tried our local soybean checkoff rep cant help me. our co-op stoped handleing ethanal...

BUT WE CAN PRODUCE ENOUGH SOY-bio diesel!

I ran straight used fryer oil in my Cummins-powered truck (just to see if it would work) this past summer. It ran just fine - a co-worker said that it smelled "like the county fair". Seems like a good option to me, especially with Diesel Fuel up to $2.29/gallon here in Northern New York.

A word of advice, though: don't try using veggie below 50 degrees F. without special heaters in the fuel line.
