Sharon if it where mine I would put shell rotella 15-40 oil in it, this is some of the best oil in the world and is for gas or diesel engines. bush hogging is a real work out for an engine and that wimpy car oil will break down faster from the heat buts its your tractor but I know what I like to use a good heavy duty oil that is used in rail road locomotives to lawn mowers it's the best.

Use a good quality brand name oil in it.
If you are working the tractor, use 30 wt.
If you are just useing it for play, 10w30 is Okay.

Use what ever you want in it I use 10w30 in my super h and m. Don,t think it matters that much. Before they had multi grade oil it was 30 in summer and 20 in winter. As for brand whatever you use in your car or pickup. I think keeping it changed is the big thing. If it is used like mine short runs and never has a chance to really warm up needs to be changed more often. Just my thoughts someone else will have better ideas.

Delbert,

You are right on the money. Engines are nothing more than a chunk of iron, they cannot think and they don't give a fig what oil is used.

It is us humans who have the bias' on what kinds of oil that we think we need to use or not to use. :>)

So, as long as it is engine oil, it can be used. Heck, put diesel oil in it if ya wanna; it won't hurt it a bit.

Allan
