You forgot the 2 people to say that it is Pres. Bush's fault that the light blew in the first place, and that John Kerry will replace all light bulbs in the nation with one that will never go out, so long as HE is president!!!!!

Dude!

I just call the power company.

Look in the pill caddy and make sure all the "Saturday" ones are gone.

Ah yes, but what happens when you ARE the power company? Ever wonder who changes OUR light bulbs? Or how many of us it takes? That's a topic for a new thread all its own!

Stickler, who is at work right now, operating a generating station.....LOL!

Stickler,

The power company sends one guy out. Along with his foreman and one or two helpers.

In something just less than four hours (minimum call out time, premium time on alternate Fridays, Saturdays and holidays, double time on Sundays and triple time on any of the above days which is actually a holiday to boot) the offending bulb is removed in a scientific manner and disposed of in the most ecological preferred method for that day. A bright new bulb is lovingly installed and tested for correct magnitude of brilliance in a range of acceptable tolerance.

All I have to do then is to clean the coffee cups, clear up the dishes from the ceremonial meal, regrade the front yard to remove the tire tracks from the the bucket truck, crew van and supervisor's Crown Vic, shampoo the carpet or mop the floor, depending on where the bulb was that needed replacement and it's all done!

What could be easier?

Hmmm. I just checked MY pill caddy and either someone has recently reloaded it or I forgot all my pills this week.

Yeah, I AM in the wrong trade! Me, it's just me and my trainee alone on nights. When we need help, we're pretty much on our own, short of a catastrophic failure. But yeah, day shift is just about like you say. One worker and 6 supervisors, then a superintendant to tell the worker everything he did wrong and how many safety rules he violated. Then when a commendation comes in from a customer for us doing a good job, it's the superintendant that gets the recognition. We get told to bend over and grab the soap.

If the light went out and no one was there to see it,did it really go out? And if no one saw it go out, then it may not be out and may not need to be replaced. and if no one saw it being replaced, was it really ever replaced, because no one ever saw that it was out,so it may not have needed to be replaced, and never was out. How many people does it take to not replace a light that was never out?

There is an ancient Chinese curse that goes something like this,
"May you live in interesting times."
Unfortunately, I believe that these times are getting a little too interesting.

If the light bulb runs on 60 cycles-per-second alternating current, and if the current is first sent to us by the electric company in ONE direction...then we give it back to them in the OTHER direction.... Then WHY do they charge us for it?

Ah, grasshopper..... AC current we do not receive back from you, but rather give it to you twice! You should pay double!
