Hey guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that the truck(96 Silverado one ton dually) has been at the dealer in the shop for 5 weeks as of today 9/27/04. I've been told to stand my ground which I had allready was going to do anyhow. GM is being such a you know what about this matter. I've been told by several sources now that I'm getting scammed and thats something I allready knew as well too.
I've been told to tell them to get it fixed or I will file a class action lawsuit. I will be contacting an attorney in the morning about this matter. Any ideas out there. I've been told by two different individuals who have no reason to lie to me abbut it that they have seen pumps come anywhere from 3 to 5 in a row that are bad.
I've been screwed over enough in my life and I"m just not going to bend over and take this with a smile. Dealership has a bad rating with the better business bureau as well. I've been doing some research here. They have also been told on many occasions that this is my work truck, the one I use to make my living with, no telling how much I have lost in wages while dealing with this. I believe the company just doesn't care about its customers. The injection pumps have not been checked to see what is out on them, I have not received any paperwork whatsoever on the work that was supposed to have been done to it, I really don't know if they have done anything or not????? ? Well, they have done one thing, they have created a upset customer for sure! The pumps are supposed to be guaranteed and their work is supposed to be too. Just a note the original pump was replaced under warranty, the one they put in failed, I got it back and drove it less than a week and the next one failed.
They are grasping at straws to blame the fuel on the problem when they have not even checked the pumps to see what is wrong with them
Just got a voice mail that its beyond General Motors control and that they ain't going to do squat. Looks like its lawsuit time here boys.

Gary, I work for the Dept. of Roads in Nebraska(12-15 trucks in our district) and we've had a few problems with the pumps also. We heard that there is now an eleven year warranty on the pumps, instead of the ten year(they've been having problems with them). We had two or three replaced in the last 4 months with I think a deductable to pay. chris Ask around at our dealers

Gary, you say 5 weeks straight with your '96? Number one, unless were hand carving the part, I'd be more than PO'd. If couldn't get the part because of back order, that'd be one thing, but after being in their posession for 2 weeks, I'd be pretty antsy and calling a couple of times a day. After 3 weeks, I'd be blowing fuses. 5 weeks straight in their posession? My family would be pointing at the moon and telling people, "He's up there".

But, it is a eight or nine year old vehical ('96 out in '95), and in this throw away society, they may not be in a hurry to fix "that old truck". That's how the Dodge dealer back home referred to my '88 Dodge (high miles, great shape) when I traded it and my '94 (low miles, great shape) in on my '01 Cummins - "What, that old truck?". I could've punched the guy, since he looked at it out the window and said that, without even going out to it, and then sold it the next day for 3 times what he gave me for it. I should've punched the guy.

A class action would mean that there are several of these involved, not just yours. And if there is a class action, you'll be madder at the lawyers after you get a settlement check for pennies years from now, after the lawyers took the bulk of the settlement and bought themselves another summer home on the coast of France, thanks to you and yours.

Good luck Gary. It seems that you are between a rock and a hard place, and perhaps you should consult an attorney. I hate those guys (attorneys), but sometimes they are a necessary evil.

Hey Mark,
The thoughts you expressed have been felt about the time frame involved. Plain and simple what has happened is, they got 2 bad pumps in in a row, someone may have not known what they were doing putting it in or setting it up???
Bottome line is they don't want to be out the money warrantying another pump. I talked to one dealer in OK that said he put on 5 in one week before getting a good one.
Everyone can rest assured that if a pump is paid for, the dealership will not get the money to put it in. I have a cousin that is a GM tech and he has said he will do it for me or help me do it. Sounds pretty simple to do from what he said. Yep, I was serious it has been in there 5 weeks. I would think they would want to get it out of the shop. It has a 8' flatbed almost too wide to be legal and a hyd. bale spike built it. Just really what the doctor ordered for me. I'll see if I can post a pick of it in the stuck and troubled pics.

Gary,

Talk to your cousin who is the GM tech. See if he agrees with me.

That outfit just does not know what they are doing!

I don't care if the darned truck has a nasty habit of turning summersaults on the Interstate; it is just a chunk of iron and there is a reason for your troubles.

I'd be for gettin' it out of there and into the hands of someone who really understands and knows what is going on with your truck.

Granted, sometimes a problem will drive the best of techs to desperation, but there is always an answer to every problem.

Good luck,

Allan
