I put STP (Wal-Mart brand) in my gearbox. It is thick and does not sling off,yet still get into the gears.I use to put 140 gear lube in it but that ran out as fast as I put it in.I'm not shure how long the STP will stay in but my gearbox didn't get hot yesterday after about 4 hours of work. The Wal-Mart brand cost less than a dollar a bottle and I put in two of them yesterday, that was after setting all summer.

We had one we done that way ,but we took out plug ang put in a grease fitting so we could fill it with a power grease gun . But when you fill with grease 1st time run pto for a minute to settle grease then add more usually another tube will top it off.

I have the same problem with a couole of track rollers on my crawler tractor the 90 wt leaks out. When that happens I just pump in semi-fluid grease, and seams to do the trick. This is about all I can do since the rollers are not made any more, and it will cost a lot to rebuild one.

The bottom seal has been gone in one of my hogs for several years now. I put any kind of cheap, or free grease i can find in it, and it just keeps on going! When the grease gets hot (and it will) it will run to the bottom, and keep things lubed.

It uses about a tube a day in hot tough going.

I have done that. It slowed down the leaks considerably. I used a multi purpose high temperature grease, run the machine a few minutes then finished filling with gear oil. If it is the bottom seals keep a close eye on it though. You might try a OO grease but I do not think it will do much good on a bottom seal.

Lubriplate #105 in a tube at the auto parts store. Made for engine rebuilding but is "THE" lube for what you need. Heavier than 140, lighter than grease. Slings, but resists running out. Additionally install a vent in your box so it can't build up pressure. Little handy work with a couple pipe fittings and nipples works. Install in fill plug hole and point it down to keep the rain out.

Is that a fact. Yes, born, raised and only lived outside courtesy uncle sam.

My handle came after there were 10 or so Marks on the board and some were saying things that I wanted to make sure people knew that I was not the one posting.

Tx comes from obviously the state, and blue as my chosen color; 3 blues, 1 red, 1 green.

Wonder what the person using it had for selection criteria?

Thanks,

Makr
