You see a tractor sitting in the weeds...she is an old lump by now, but being the tractor lover you are you want it anyway....you can see beneath the rusty exterior and know that you could bring life back to the old relic....
If you know the tractor is pretty much junk, what do you offer, or do you just offer to haul it away? There are lots of hulks sitting around my area...would like one for parts and maybe others for projects...and I just thought I would tap into all the years of experience here...

Oh yeah? Go to tractor photos and look up "Massey 1130 and Case Comfort King". I took that photo, and there they still set, except that now the weeds are taller than both of them. The only people that know that they're there are me and the owner, and no one knows who the owner is. The mayor of that town has a restaurant that I frequent to get help from him in locating the owner, hasn't happened. The village board members, not getting anywhere. The cops. Someone has to know who owns or leases that land. Those two tractors have been setting right there for at least two years that I know of, and haven't budged, and I want that Massey in the worst way, and will even gladly take the Case as a pair of misfits waitin to be restored and given something to do. I aint givin up and won't. I'm kind've glad that the weeds have over taken them, that way it gives me more time before some other wisenhiemer sees them and just happens to know who they belong to, and picks them up. Dang, it aint gonna be easy, not at all. They're both a couple of beauts, to me.

Go to the county or city treasurer, whoever gets the tax money for that property. Give them the address or property description and they'll have the owner's name and address.

If you can get to the county courthouse go to the "Register of Deeds" office and ask them who ownes the property / they will give you the name of the property owner and the mailing address that the property taxes are paid from. This is public information that must be given out upon request.
The land owner will know who ownes the old iron if they don't own it themselves. I hope this helps you.

That depends on the tractor and the owner. If it's something rare and he knows it, you're probably not going to "steal" it. If it's something rare and he doesn't know it, you might be able to. If it's something common and you both know it, you might get a deal. If it's something common as dirt but he thinks it's solid gold under the rust, it isn't worth the time. We'd all like to find something like an original low-radiator JD "G" sitting in the weeds and haul it away for $50, but that doesn't happen too often.

If it is reasonably complete and all in one piece somewhere between $100 to $300.
