What is the general consensus on this model? Good, Bad, Great? Why did they make it only two years, '55 and '56? Prts availability? I came across this tractor and am considering it for my property, for general purpose . It comes the 3point hitch and attachments, a blade, a fork lift, a disc, and a tiller that dosen't have the correct hook up to the hitch. It looks great, engine sounds good, good rubber. Drives good except for the brakes, and as I previously mentioned, water in the gear oil and leaking at the rear wheel seal. $3500 w/ trailerd delivery to my property. I like it.

C'mon Back?

TGB: We had two of them--a 300 and a 300 Utility. One had live PTO and full hydraulics, the other did not. They were the "big" tractors on my grandparent"s 50-cow dairy farm for 30+ years, and did everything until we got a 2240 JD. They"re an excellent tractor, provided you recognize that they"re only 35 horse, and don"t expect them to do the work of a larger tractor. One question--you say the tractor has 3-point hitch--does it, or does it have the IH "fast hitch" with a top link? If so, you may have a bit of difficulty finding attachments that will fit, or at least have do some modification. It"s not an insurmountable problem, but one that"s worth understanding before you buy the tractor.

Sounds like a pretty good deal if the tractor is in good shape. I paid $2500 for mine with loader and still had to do some work on it.The 300 was only made two years but the 350 was the same just had a little bigger motor so it was aruond about four years. Most parts avaiable.Weak point is the steering, it gets a little sloppy in the gear box.Iv'e owned three and are real tough and handy tractors.
