Securing Spinout Wheels

I can't seem to get the spin out adjustable rear wheels on Dad's Massey Ferguson 65 to lock up securely and stay put. The rear wheels are new aftermarket items, which may or may not be relevant. I crank down on the locking lugs as hard as I can with an 18" breaker bar and square socket (the lug has a half-inch square head). I can see the wheel deform slightly under the pressure. The mechanism seems to be nothing more than a cam which pushes a stud outward against the spiral. No teeth or anything where the stud meets the spiral, nor any detents to engage. Seems like a poor design. Is something worn, or am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks in advance.

To lock, the cam has to turn all the way to the right. Turn until the lug, on the cam bolt, contacts the wheel. Try a 36 inch bar.

Unless I'm reading wrong your talking of the adjustable rims. I have these on my A/C WD and they come with some locking pins that would go in some holes before and after the cams on the rails. Look closely at the rails for the holes 1/4 or 5/16 inch I think.

You correctly interpreted what I was trying to say. There are four such rails on each wheel, only one of which has holes. I thought these were only for use as stops in adjusting the wheels, not as a means of locking them in place. But I could be wrong. Thanks.

You are right- the fittings in the rails are stops. They do not hold the wheel to the rim. The eccentric bolt does that. Remove the assembly that holds the eccentric and check that you do not have a flat spot on the bolt. If you do, build it up with a welder and grind smooth to a perfect circle.
