I'm replacing the pinion gear bearing on a 69 Mack. I cut the old bearing off, but having a problem getting the new one on. Is there an easy way?

Hi i work at a mack dealership. We heat the bearings to install on the pinion and spur gear. I use a torch and steel plate .Carefully heat to 300 will slip right on.

Hi Darrel,

Freezing the pinon shaft should gain you about .002 smaller.

A bearing heater would help prevent damaging bearing and/or shaft during installation.
