I have a 1951 Farmall "M" w/a wide front-end wheel assembly. I call it an H-frame. I've been to several shows over the last few yrs & have never seen another one like her. Last weekend at the Antique Acers Red Power show, an old boy was telling me they never made a wide front-end "M". I told him I beg to differ because I own one. Were there many "M" produced w/the wide front-end wheel assemble?
I've seen several model "H" Farmall w/the wide front-end wheel assemble.

Also could someone tell me what the proper color red is for the Farmall?
Thanks

Obviously that guy has never read the operators manual for a Farmall M, there's a picture of it in there showing wheel spacing adjustment.

Ted, The correct color for your M is #2150 rouge red available at your Case NH dealer. There are some fine automotive quality paints available from DuPont, Sherwin Williams, Martin Senior etc, and I"m not sure of their cross over numbers, but they are significantly more expensive than IH factory paint. I would shy away from hardware store paint, or TSC and other aftermarket tractor supply houses, as they are not of the same high quality as Case NH and the others. Yes, there were indeed wide front systems available for the M, factory and aftermarket. The factory wide front for your 1951 would have had the tierods mounted ahead of the axle. Swartz which was the biggest aftermarket seller had tierods behind the axle.

Not only did International make wide front end M"s they made narrow, single, and high crop versions along with several different orchard tractors as well. There were also several companies that made after market front ends for the tractors like Swartz. I have a 41 M with a Swartz heavy duty wide front on it. The person that was telling you that IH never produced wide fronts really didn"t know what he was talking about.
