Dan, I went by the place today (Tom Witvoet & Sons in Hersher, IL) and plan B didn't work - they didn't have internet access, so they couldn't look at your picture. But I described it as best I could see it, and they said "Auger on the front? Are you sure? Never seen one before, gotta be expensive, or home made". And they didn't have an auger for me, but can get one quick if I want them to. I figure if I've gotta wait for one, may as well get it from an impliment dealer back home in Indiana. And more dumb luck, they had a consignment sale Aug 3rd, and I missed it by a couple of weeks just like I did the one on May 1. Mmm mmm mmm. Well, maybe I'll remember to catch the one Dec 7, or pickup a deal in between. Nice guys, and stufff, they got stuffff. Sorry, I tried.

I got one of these abandoned out of the back part of my property. Don't know what it is.

The picture came up great for me, but you really do need to reduce the size of the pic before posting. I had to scroll from side to side and also top to bottom just to see all of it. I have never seen a post auger like that one. Looks like it would be at least a two man operation.

Dan, the picture didn't come out so well on my laptop. I can vaguely make out what looks to be a 550 Oliver under that thing (my resolution is bad on this picture), but from what I can see of that thing, I've never seen anything like it. As it turns out, I'm looking for an auger for back home in Indiana, and as luck would have it I'm going to be travelling past a place on Rt. 17 between Kankakee and Dwight Illinois tomorrow that has a gazillion acres of tractors and impliments, I think mostly on consignment (not sure). I'd planned on stopping in to check on an auger anyway. But, I'll copy the picture to disk (if it will fit), and run it by them. Who knows, if they have access to this site, maybe I can get them to go up and look at it. One way or the other, I'll let you know. I like that thing though, from what I can see. Mark Krzyzanowski
