When a tractor is described as open or open station, what's that mean? Do both terms usually mean the same thing? Does it just mean the tractor does NOT have a cab?

That is what it means to me. No Cab. John Deere has two versions of the open station on their 5000 series tractors. 1 is a flat platform and the other is a stratle (spelling?) mount where your legs are around the tranny.

The one where you set straddling the tranny is called a utility tractor.
