My toys grew by one today (now I am happy for sure). I have been blessed with lots of enclosed space and a lean to to store implements and stuff. But I am out of room. Wanting to at least keep my stuff under roof I would like to add a pole barn. Any good leads to designs appreciated. Small but tall maybe 30 x 40 with 14 ft roof. Best would be design that I could add to if for some reason I find myself not satisified with the toys I have again. tks

Make it as large as you can possibly afford. No matter how big you think you need, you're thinking too small! Been there!

Try the metal arch buildings they go up fast, and you can park tall equipment next to walls. And the good thing is you can always add on to them you can make them a mile long if you want more building for the buck.

Matthew, I just had a 30x50x10 with one 12' sliding door, one walk in door and 2 windows, screwed on colored matal for $7800 by Rob-Bilt out of Oklahoma. They were 12 hours building it. I spent 30 years of my life being a carpenter, but I don't think that I could buy the material and build it myself and save any money. I couldn't be more satisfied with the service, quality of material and quality of work.

Where abouts are you located at? I just had a metal building put up. It has a 5 inch concrete floor, 25x25, the walls are 10' with about 12.5 or 13 at the peak. 4' walk-in door and 12' overhead door. I'm located in New Mexico. These guys did a pretty darn good job outside the fact that I wasn't 100% clear where to put the overhead door. Now I got get electricity put in it and the electricians in this town are busier than a one legged man at an @$$ kicking contest.

later days mate,
Jim

Turn the trusses the opposite way... in other words go as wide as you can afford with the wider trusses, then it's much easier to add another 24 ft onto it when you run out of space again...

Just had a 30X40X10 built by A&C Builders out of Oklahoma and am extremely satisfied. Colored tin with a screwed on roof, 2X8 trusses on 5' centers (rafter is one board from eve to peak - no splices). One 10' door and one utility door, all for $5980. They built it in a day and a half.

Here in Ohio a building kit costs that alone ! Cheapest labor I could find was about $3000 to assembly it.

I know, the same KIT in Sutherlands was the nearly the exact same price only with 2X4 spliced trusses on 4' centers (no screws). Then I would have had the joy of putting it up myself.

A flat bed truck dropped the material off on a Thursday and 4 guys showed up at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon and started puting it togather. They finished on Sunday afternoon. Payment terms where half when the building was dropped off, half when it was assembled. Most local crews wanted 20%-40% down then you got put on a list to "someday" get your building.

I'm in the procces of building one now. Added lean to on each side for a fraction of the cost if I was to just build a building that size. Inclosed out side of lean to, to increase the size of the building. 9 ft on each side. The cost of materials jump right after I got mine. So you might want to look for used?

Put up a Cleary 5 years ago. 60 X 117 X 14. $35,000 but worth every penny. My Advise - fiqure out how much room you need and multiply by 4. That is what size you should put up.

I wish I would have talked to you first... mine was only twice the size I thought I needed! Next time it will be at least four times as large.
