No, this has nothing to do with guns or fluid in the tires. My queston is this: We're at the height of tractor show-county fair season here in Ohio. What do you guys think about leaving my old Farmall H loaded on the trailer for a week, maybe as long as 3 weeks at a time? The trailer is 7000# GVW, the tractor weighs 3930#, the trailer weighs about 1500#. I use a combination of heavy duty ratchet straps and chains to tie it down. Should I loosen them or not worry about it and leave them tight so I'm all ready to hook up to the truck and go to the next show? Not trying to be lazy here, just that coming home late Sunday night and then having to be at work first thing Monday morning it'd be lots easier to just back it into the barn, unhook, and not worry about it. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would hurt the trailer for that time period, but I always like to loosen the chains or staps that are holding the tractor. No sence in putting stress on the castings, bearings, etc. It probably wouldn't hurt, but I feel better when I loosen it up. Just my 2 cents

Just leave her loaded have seen trailers with 50000lbs sit for weeks in yard loaded and never move. Then one day the load got shipped don't worry about flat spots on tires ,there rubber they flex. and you don't have to loosen straps they will be just fine. Just check them before you start trip better safe than sorry.

Mark,
I have been told that you may lose some of the spring in your springs if you leave it loaded for a long period of time. That was told to me after I left my 6000# skid loader on my 7000# trailer for about 2 straight months. I can not really say I notice any difference, but I thought I would pass it on.

Good Day,
David

Mark, I've never done that exactly, but I have left heavy loads on trailors rated for them. I suppose that as long as the trailer is rated for it, no problem. May want to move it around a little from time to time to avoid flat spots in the tires, and I don't know if will occur within 3 weeks. Perhaps someone else has other reasons or ideas why you can, or should not. Overall, I don't see it as a problem since both will be moved around in a reasonable period of time. Good luck at all shows. Mark Krzyzanowski

i don't know of any good reason except if I did that it would be raining monday morning and I would want the trailer for something else. I bought my trailer to USE! Go ahead and leave it loaded, You have my permission. The tractor ain't gonna care if you loosen the staps, just check them before you leave again.
