I just attended our local tractor show and I noticed older fellows staring at JD A's,GP's,AC WC's,IH M's.They are looking at the tractor and seem to be plowing or baling a field in their minds many years ago.I love to hear their stories about life back then and what these tractors did and meant to everyday life.(I have nothing but respect for these machines and people.I love to look at the old iron.) Now I am starting to do this myself! The only difference is I am staring at a restored 4020 or 4320.(The first tractor I ever ran in the field was a 1970 4020)I own several pre 1955 tractors of 3 different colors, but what really seems to get me are the ones from my era. Some folks say these arent antiques.I was born in 1966,so is this age catching me or what??

No age isn't catching up with you. You just like what you like. I was born in 1952 and Dad had a Ferg.30 that's what I grew up on. I can honestly say I don't have one now or do I want one(as a mater of fact I know where his is sitting and it can stay there.)
I grew up when this part of Md. was rural and I would envy those guy from the packing houses on those big Super M's. When I was in my teens I saved up and bought one(mistake.)
Then I was impressed with the New Generation Deere's, had everything Dads Ferg had and power to do it. I bought one after college (still have it.)
So I say you collect what you like. I've got two cylinders, four cylinders, and six cylinders. I've got green ones, red ones, gas or diesel, just as long as I get pleasure from using them and I can keep them running.

You're not alone, I have the same thoughts and feelings-born 1965- my first tractor ride was a Farmall M when I was 8 years old, baled a lot of hay in my teens with a then new 1979 MF245. Those were the days! Guess I'm gettin' old. Bob

What did they call antique? Some people think any tractor past two cylinder is not antique. Some think any tractor past 1959 is not antique.
My 2010 looks antique compared to new JD tractors.

The "Baby Boomers" try to recapture their youth through nostalgic items, you are simply doing the same from items of a later era.

No, age isn't creeping up on you--it is running at you full speed. Well not really, but just want you to get an idea of what is to come.

I'll have you know I resemble that! I'm one of the "older fellows" gazing at the M and H tractors and remembering, and yeah you're on the way to joining us, even if you are remembering "new" tractors.
