Brad, get a 10,000# gvw trailer. I have a 7,000 that I haul my M on and I can tell you a larger one is what you need. If you ever have to haul your tractor and an implement you will appreciate the difference. I have a tilt-bed trailer so the whole bed tilts, no need for ramps. And make sure to get brakes on both axles.

I think you had better scale that M. I pull antique tractors, and there is only one M I can think of that makes the 4500lb class, and he has spoke rears and narrow front. The 7000# trailer I just bought weighs in at a little over 2000#, but that is heavy for that GVW. As suggested, a 10K gvw trailer would be the minimum if I were hauling any M.

You have to remember the G in GVW stands for "Gross", meaning the entire weight of the trailer and the load. The most common flat trailers available have either tandem 3500# axles (7000 GVW) or 5000# axles (10000 GVW). The trailer probably weighs in at 1500 lbs all by itself so a 7000 lb GVW only leaves you about 5500 lbs of available load carrying capacity. I prefer to go overkill on things like this, so I would opt for a trailer with 10000 lb GVW. And yes, definitely with brakes.

Makes? It seems like every area has a trailer builder locally. Around here you seem to get a really good trailer for the money from Big Bubba's Trailers in Ogden UT. I have one and I like it a lot. I've seen other builders from MO and KY selling trailers on ebay.
