Which outlet for hyd.motor question...

I need to run a hydraulic motor off my current model JD 5510 and am not sure which set of outlets to use. It appears I have to be pulling or pushing on the tractor hyd. lever in order to get the motor to turn. That is, to get the fluid to flow. Trouble is, I need to have the hyd motor turn while I am off the tractor. I have to do this job alone. There must be a better way than tying the handle back to have continuos flow but I am at a loss. I thought I read somewhere that that itwas possible to have continuos hyd flow but cannot figure it out. Any advice helpful.

The manual for my 2750 JD says to use the pair on the left for motors. Check your manual.

john deere makes a clip to hold the lever in working position, they use them with no-till
drills to hold down pressure.

The "clip" when used with a hydraulic cylinder is fine as there is "no continious flow". The hydraulic motor is continous flow so it's ok to clip the closed center tractor control supplying the closed center motor valve. The clip with an open supplying a closed is not desirable. The clip with a closed supplying an open may at least work but don't count on any other tractor hydraulics working properly.

Somewhere in your manual it should show you how to set the hydraulics so they are on without you haveing to hold the lever.

Another thought. You may be able to use a bungy cord to hold the valve lever in one direction for continuous flow.

You should be able to get a detent spool valve for your hydraulic valve that will hold it in position or you can remove the centering spring that holds the valve centered.

Ask your dealer, they have the fittings and controls for a power-beyond hydraulic circuit. Is the hydraulic load open or closed center valve controlled?

Don't know the answers to your questions. I decided to just tie the handle back, which keeps the fluid moving, since the motor has a shut-off valve on it. Seems to work OK. Any problems with this arrangement?

If the motor control valve is open center and the tractor's valve is closed center. The full output of the hydraulic pump will circulate out to the motor’s open center valve and back to the tractor’s hydraulic reservoir. Not so bad but using HP to unnecessarily pump oil and heat it. As rendering other hydraulics like steering, brakes and other remotes useless with much reduced operating pressure. I’ve tried explaining this one to my Father and Uncle for 15 years as they use the log splitter. They don’t like the vibration, hammering and noise, but they hate my explanation and cure even more. They just idle the tractor down and tie on the old bungee cord let her buzz. A closed center control on the hydraulic motor on an open center tractor will have the hydraulic pump always running max pressure and lifting the relief valve. Even a worse HP thief and oil heater. No hydraulic functions down stream of the hydraulic remotes will work either.

I've been doing the same thing for 12 yrs with my remote hydraulics whenever I mount my hoe. Works fine. Bungee's my choice.
