What do I need to change 3 wire alternator to a single wire?
Reason for doing this is alternator has tach drive on it.
Thanks,

If you are talking about a Delco 10-12 SI with internal regulator, then all you need to change is the regulator. I have converted many of them, never bought a ready to go 1 wire alternator, always rebuilt junkyard cores. I buy the 1 wire regulators by the box(dozen) from a mail order jobber at a cost of aprox $7 each. An auto parts store or alternator rebuild shop should have them.

I assume that the tach drive is a mechanical (cable) drive. Anyways, I am curious as to why the conversion is necessary because of the tach drive. Am I reading your post correctly?

Result of engine swap and current tractor has single wire alternator no tach, upgrade with alternator with tach drive. Tractor set up for pulling so tach is used as a speed monitor.
Thank for asking.
