I have the opportunity to purchase a Massey Harris Pony that has been restored. Motor has been rebuilt with new pistons, rings, etc. New radiator. New paint. It has been finished to the point of needing the electrical wiring done and the fuel line put on. The tires are brand new all the way around. It does not have factory hyd. lift, but includes the mechanical lift. The asking price is $2000, and is from a friend so I want it to be a fair price for both. What do you guys think? Thanks for the opinions.

If you want to keep the friend don't deal. Something always goes wrong on those deals. It will be hard to get $2000 for a Pony with no hydraulics. I won't say that he won't get it, but it is highly unlikely that he will.

If it's actually been restored, (new brakes, seals, bushings where needed, ect.), it sounds way cheaper than you could spend to restore one. I'm doing mine right now and I spent $277 to get radiator recored, (couldn't find new one anywhere), another $100 on wiring harness, $60 on governor, muffler will be another $70 or so, manifold $110, and I haven't touched the engine yet! I paid $2300 for this tractor, but it did have a nice Woods 5 foot mower on it. It ran good, and actually didn't look bad, but I wanted to restore it. With purchase price included, I'll have well over $4000 in it when it's done, and that doesn't include compressor and spray equipment I'm buying to save money and paint it myself! Where are you located? If you decide not to buy it, I may be interested:) ..... Stan
