What insecticides do you use on sweetcorn to control corn earworn and sap beetles. I plant about 4 acres of sweetcorn in about 8 different plantings and would like to know what sprays everyone uses on their corn. I have been using Warrior for the last two years with good results, costs about $270. per gallon. The dealer this year suggested permethrin, cost about $105 per gallon. I ve read the label and it doesn t mention controlling sap beetle. Has anyone used permethrin and does it kill sap beetles. Any suggestions Thanks

I've been using Pounce (permethrin) since 1987, absolutely love it for 'anything that ails ya'. Never heard of a sap beetle, though. Maybe by another name?

Do not know what you are calling a sap bettle. We/I probably just know it by a differant name. Any way it is hard for me to suggest a chemical for you to use as we live in differant areas and climate. What works for me may not work for you. I was hoping some one local to you would answer but I will try to at least direct you.

What I would suggest to you is to go to your state ag center web site and search for a corn insecticide guide. This will list the insecticide that your state has tryed and works for them.

NOTE: Permethrin may be listed in these pages as Ambush. Same thing.
