Today my 1969 Massey Ferguson 135 Transmission Locked in reverse and would stall the tractor if I let out the clutch?? I have heard a couple of quite sounding knocks comeing from the transmission area under no load just rolling along in gear. I was backing up and just after it rolled a little bit the tractor wanted to stall and I had to keep the clutch in to keep it running. It was very hard to pull out of reverse gear! I got it out and it seemed to work fine after that. I am worried something is going wrong in there. The knocks sound like the pump knocking when you lift a heavy item with the lift but just a couple of them. I was not using the pump to lift anything when this happen, just rolling real easy backwards?? Any ideas? Thanks, Mark H.

Reading Big Deans site I see that this can happen when they get a lot of hours on the tractor. Guess I better think about working on it in the future. Mark H.

Willey,
Mine has been doing both of what you described for 12 years or so, I've also been thinking about working on it in the future for about the same amount of time.

Well then I just won't loose to much sleep over it then. If it starts to happen alot I might tear into it. I have a whole 2,400.00 into my tractor why start blowing money on it now. Mark H.

Just great now Linked on the ROSS "Resourse Ordering System Statis" for my Water Tender to get called out on fires. Might get some work yet out of the truck. I might pull the top shifter plate and take a look at the linkage sometime. Mark H.

all the foresty people and weather guessers up here are predicting dryer and hotter than last year , we already are running about 2 to 1 in fires over the same period last year, our snow pack is low and though we did have some rain im afaird that the next three months are goin to dry us right out again. i pulled the top off mine before and changed a broken shifting fork, not too big a job, get a chance to see how everything else is down in there too, have fun.

When this happens take off the filler plug and use a screw driver (even the end of a cresent wrench) and move the shift rail slider until it releases. After you have moved it to neutral it will shift alright. In the future be careful shifting and you will be fine.
