Just wondering what would be the best 30 horse compact tractor between Johndeere and the New Holland tc30? What would hold up the best? Which would last the longest? Which would pull the best? Which has the most pto horse power between the two?

I'd suggest that you take a wander over to Tractor By Net. It is a mainly Compact Tractor board. Lots more info there on the type of tractor you are looking for.

Both are quality tractors and of equivalent HP and features. It would depend on who had the best dealer and the one most interested in your business and product support.

Best, longest, most??? We need some info to go with here. Are you running a farm with low stable headroom, tree nursery, yuppy estate, mowing golf courses, hot weather, cold weather, mud/snow/desert??? Need a cab? Doing pto, loader or drawbar work? Do you care only for the purchase price today or also considering trade value in 10 years?

I might add , to study each owner's manual. Over the years , I've learned much more about any tractor or equipment by reading the owner's manuals. Manuals reveal much about the care and maintenance involved in each piece that gets glossed over by dealers and advertizing.

I am on the school board and the school needed a new tractor. I priced out a Kubota, NH, and a JD and the JD was the cheapest of them all. We ended up buying a JD 4310 with a loader.

You can look at the Kubota website and the NewHolland website for info on just about everything, weights of machines, loader lift capacity, rear three pt. lift capactiy, ground speed, length, width, height. Plus you can go into those dealers and ask to drive them around.

The John Deere Company is the most stable of the two, & will probably stand behind their product a little better!

Your best bet would be to try out both brands and see what you think of them yourself. They are both excellent brands, but it's up to you to decide what tractor would best suit your needs. Why are you really concerned about what machine might pull a tiny bit more?, are you gonna pull it in competition or are you going to use it for what it was designed for?. As a rule, a heavier machine will pull more, but the heavier the machine, the worse it will be on your lawn unless the ground is very dry. You ought to try checking out the manufacturers websites to compair features, warranty, horse powers, etc... As far as which machine will hold up the best, nothing lasts if it's abused or not maintained and both New Holland and John Deere put out excellent quality stuff.

I too was looking for the best 30 HP compact utility tractor for the money. Last week I purchased a Kubota B7800. The New Holland was my second choice (I liked the looks of the TC30 better than the Boomer). The New Hollands did not look as well built as the Kubota. I also read about incidents of transmission housings breaking and the factory reps not even wanting to look at them if the waranty had expired. The New Hollands were even priced a little higher.
John Deere's were even more expensive, the dealer did not seem even interested in trying to earn my business.
What bothered me the most was John Deere's are made by Yanmar and New Hollands are made by Shibaura, at least Kubota's are made by Kubota. I will know where to get parts if I need them in 10 or 15 years. I stopped in the service department to ask the mechanic of any known Kubota problems, his reply was that he only works on very old ones as the new ones have not yet had a chance to wear out to the point that they start breaking down. In his words, Kubota's are practically bullet proof.
That is why I went with "orange". I also think that I will retain more resale value, than the other two.
I was also informed that the Kubota loaders are built better than the NH's.

I see guys going to Kubota to buy parts for there older Kubota's, and the parts are no longer available, so good luck with your thought that Kubota will have parts when the others won't!!!

Another thing i hate about Kubota is, there parts prices are higher than many others too!!

And yes, i've owned a Kubota. CJ

What did the 7800 cost? and what implements did you get, did you buy a loader. A fella I know just bought a new 34HP Kubota with a front end loader for 14K. Did you get 4 wheel drive? Is it hydrostatic drive or gear. Fill me in, thanks. I also priced a New holland last year the TC24 and it was $11,750 out the door with only a rear blade, if I wanted the tractor and the loader it was $14,800 out the door. From what I know you could buy the next bigger size Kubota for the same money compared to the New holland.

A neighbor has had a Kubota in that hp range for about a year. He not only likes it, he said that it has never given him a minutes trouble and that maintenance items are actually cheaper than JD and New Holland. They are also much easier to work on. He would never consider those other brands again.

Whichever one you like the best, & which one has the best dealer support.

All the big 3 (add Orange to the mix) make good machines, the differences come down to fit & feel to you specifically.

Actually, I wouldn't base ANY kind of comparison between these two on PTO hp, or how much they can pul, etc. etc. etc. These tractors are entirely dedicated to the creature comfort and ease of operation while operating a loader, brush cutter, finish mower, 3ph rear blade or similar equipment. How convenient the hydraulic controls are to operate and how comfortable the seat is are probably more important than how much hp it has. Come to think of it, though, since these are really giant lawnmowers, suitable for comercial operations, fuel economy is likely to be a big factortoo---and reliability/ freedom from repairs!

The three cylinder diesal in the deere is very noisey when you are operating it.
