this is truely a great web site although it may be the last time i post a message on it.
i had a simple question and some folks are quick to condem a man with out knowing the full story. i don't want any sympathy just respect the tractor is my dads that's reason i didn't know where the blasted dipstick was. after having emergency open heart surgery and having two strokes the next day i inherited the farm and all it's chores plus a full time job been working a lot under the head lights and in the dark so please excuse the short temper, but sometimes it's best to know the full story before you condem a man and for those who need to know that sereral!!! manuals have been ordered with plans for more as soon as i can but that don't answer an immediate need

You are the rare exception on this site in uncommon circumstances. Sorry, your question matched the type asked by the vast majority here and you got painted by the same brush. Sorry about your Father, it’s not a good feeling watching my own Dad wither away. As for the stupid lazy illiterate donkeys who are not in your shoes. If you can't read or afford the manuals and proper tools/equipment. Take some of your weekly budget used for a carton of smokes, a 40 of rye, a two four of beer, an xxx DVD and delivered pizza. Purchase the manuals and get someone to read them for you. Smart a$$ or calling a spade a spade? Ever see the numbers of and the messes/damage/injuries and death caused by people taking “shortcuts? At least my Father taught me the value of the job well done unlike my Maternal Grandfather who taught the me the cost of doing everything ½ a$$ed.

As Paul Harvey would say now we know the rest of the story. I saw your original post before any answers were posted and had I known anything about 6030's I would of glady answered your question. I have not been around tractors that large I mostly am around small stuff. I now see clearly your urgent need and have been in similar situations at times myself trying to help out neighbors repair tractors that I am not all that familar with. Now thanks to Bob I think you and I could check the hyd.oil in a 6030 if needed. My cousin bought one not too long ago and I've not been around it at all but some day I may be and this info will help. I know he has all the books but I wouldn't have a clue where to look for them .

I was in the same boat in late 1994. Dad "gave" me the crop that year. 350 acres of wheat to get in in a few weeks with a JD 4430 and a 20x8 drill. I didn't have anyone to answer any questions. Don't get discouraged with the board. It's really a great place. Hang in there.

bob i didn't mean to sound as if i were condeming the sight it's truely a great site didn't mean any disrespect on that issue. just trying to get the point across that it's best when someone don't know the full story it's best not to jump to conclusions.been trying to get back on the farm and dad's been being my engineer but now i've lost that. just needed a quick answer to that. got a big weekend full of farm work planned. by the way really appreciate the advice

It doesn't take long to figure out the ones that critisize most everyone on here. Sometomes they do have a good answer but most of the time if I see their name in a post I just ignore it.

I figure the purpose of the forum is to help people. If you're going to say check the manual for every question that comes up, there would be no need for the forum, as nearly every problem that could come up is covered in a manual SOMEWHERE!

So many times, when someone is criticized on here to check the manual, it turns out they have already realized they needed one, and ordered it, but want a quick answer to get a machine running again, while they wait for the manual to arrive.

Bob----- -AMEN, There are several forum's that have good information and this is one of them.

Hot Rod---Don't let the bad apples send you away, if you have questions just ask and don't let the smarta$$ get to you. Like I said, just ignore them.
