Bring lots of money. I live near by and have gone to many of Jim McFadden's auctions. I've yet to ever come close to getting a bargain. First of all, he's in the used tractor parts business, and second of all he's an auctioneer - both for his own auctions and also for hire. He has at least two huge auctions of his own every year. Always has some fascinating stuff including some overseas stuff (Field Marshals, French diesel Massey Harris Ponies, etc.). I've gone to the regular auctions and also those labeled as "absolute." Not sure if I believe it though, kind of hard to figure out exactly what's going on. Jim advertises locally, all the time, trying to buy up old tractors, and I don't think he lets bargains slip past him. He also has a tractor show/meet every year around Father's day. It's a great show, and every year he has antique pulls and a theme. Last year the theme was antique Cats. I usually go to all his auction previews, but I don't bother actually attending the auctions anymore. I'm not one of the "big spenders", I still look for bargains.
