I have a problem with my 9N starting and remain running. First, I have problem sometimes getting the tractor started. When I do get it started it will run for awhile maybe 5-10 minutes then it just shuts down. I'm not sure if the carb needs adjusted or does anyone think the ignition system is bad? What's an easy way to determine the problem?

I would suggest you search the archives in the Ford N section; there are a few common things to start eliminating to get an idea where the problem lies- whether ignition or fuel. My bet is on fuel.

Hot wire it and if it runs then its in the ignition system if it quits its in the carb

On a ford if it runs for 5 or 10 minutes it is more than likely the ignition switch. By pass the switch, carefully because you will also be bypassing the Transmission interlock It will start in gear. If it keeps on running replace the switch common problem on the N series.
