Seeing as how this forum seems to be read by a number of gear-heads from VT, please do me the favor of reading the rest of the message.

I need to rent a 50' or larger boom man-lift or crane for work at the Union Village Dam in East Thetford, VT. I rented a 45' lift last week from Upper Valley Rentals in Lebanon, NH and it came up short. I need it this week and the work can be done after hours. Equipment will be positioned on level hot-top. Load will not exceed 400 lbs. Send me an email if you have any ideas. Thanks

Thanks Les

Ya, I was planning to call Herb on Monday. He probably knows where every piece of iron is located in the area.

I am from Massachusestts but spent a few years going to school in your neck of the Pemi at Holderness.

Oh, a preppie, eh? ";^) I'm up the valley just a mite in the Woodstock end of Thornton.
Herb's # is 785-4348. Office is 785-2161. (Area code 802, of course.)

Les,

Did you have a business called "Big Boys Toys". I went to an auction there about 12 years ago.

To give you a hint of how old I am, let me say that one could still gingerly cross on foot that old steel bridge by the pulp plant in Thornton high above the falls on the Pemi. I used to hang out there alot while going to school. West Campton, Stinson Mt, Tenney Mt, and Waterville Valley were also hangouts. The skiing at Waterville was only available at the small slope behind the old hotel. The new Waterville complex and Loon Mt were just pipe dreams.

BTW, I am not a full fledged preppie. I got kicked out after my junior year.

Wardner,

I saw a store in the Silver City Galleria in Taunton Mass. called "Big Boy's Toys", The name caught my eye; I had never heard of it. Being in the mall I figured it was electronics so I did not stop in; had I thought it was tools and such, I probably would have stopped in. Where was the one you thought Les might be involved in, and what were they selling?

Well, that old pulp mill and the rickety bridge are not in Thornton but in Campton at Livermore Falls. Thornton is the next town north and I am in the north end of it. You can't get anywhere from "The Gore" (where I live) without going through Woodstock. I can see the west side of Mt. Tecumseh from my property.
Never heard of "Big Boys Toys". Maybe when I get to work (at the NH Electric Coop in Plymouth) I'll mention it and see if it rings a bell with anybody. I was away at college and in the service from '65 to '72 and there's a blank there. You must be about my age. I went to HS in Lincoln, not Plymouth like most of the kids in Thornton.

Well, I'm not in the upper Connecticut valley, I'm in the upper Pemigewasset valley but I do get around! ";^)
Have you checked with Herbie Gray right there in East Thetford? He might be able to help. Or check with the Townline Equipment in Plainfield (NH). They are very knowledgeable and friendly folks.
There's a guy in Plymouth, NH named Dean Yeaton who had one of those things he bought at Gray's auction a couple years ago. Don't know if he still has it or not. You might look him up and give him a call. I think he was going to use it to paint his barn.
