Have a '64 Blue 4 cyl diesel with 3300 hrs. Got to running rough at higher rpm's. Only had it a few years so didn't know history on injectors and pump.Decided pump was probably due a retread. Surfed the www and found a guy in New England that only did pumps for his living. Discussed removal and transportation to him. In the conversation he said to loosen the inspection plate just above the ID tag and let some fuel run out while the thing is running. If the engine recovers you have one of two problem: pump or return line obstruction. In short, I did and it did. Cleaned up the return line to the tank and HOT DOG!!!!! Runs like a top. So just like is said on here repeatedly, it's not always a complicated solution to a problem. So now did I not only avoid the big bucks and inconvenience of removal and shipment and return, but I have use of my tractor in this, the start of the haying season. Don't remember the guys name but would like to thank him. txblu Hope someone gets some lift from this.
