What do you guy's recommend for a city boy that has tractors to show and parade for liability insurance? I am concerned about running over someone or someone climbing on my tractor at a show and getting hurt. I hate that part of our crazy world today!!

Personally, if I'm taking a tractor to a parade or just driving upto the dump towing a trailer, I feel better with the insurance. See our Tractor Club has a 1 million dollar liability insurance for it's members at "functions", but we are not covered on route to a "function". When I used to drive 4 tractors an hour-and-half- one way, one tractor; I felt better knowing that the $104.00 I paid for a year on each tractor protected me if I ran over someone or hit something on route by accident. Now I haul them to "functions" because I have 14 of them and I can only put 4 on a policy because the Insurance Company says I don't need more than 4 tractors. AS IF!!!!!

I also have the policy through the Tri-State company. It covers everything including liability and only costs around $60.00 per year. Don't believe for a minute that your automobile or homeowners policies will cover this. Only person looking out for your interests is you.

Been meaning to look into this & just keep putting it off: Someone said you can get a blanket liability policy on yourself that will cover everything from falling a tree the wrong way to... Probably wouldn't cover the tractor value but what it could do to others. Any thoughts on this?

This insurance is written only in a few states but it covers my tractor at home, on the road or at a show. You might want to check it out. Click below for info. Larry

you shouldnt need insurance, the person(s) putting on the show or parade should have the insurance for that.other than that, you truck insurance will cover it up to a ceratin amount while your pulling it,and if its at home your homeowners ploicy will help.

If you have an accident at a show and it is your fault you will be the first one sued and the show will be second. Attorneys will sue everyone and let the judge sort it all out. You will have to hire your own attorney to protect yourself. I have been on the wrong end before and it will cost you money every time.

I can say thats true to some degree.Where I live, several county as well as state laws state that at any type of event the person or comapny putting on the event is soley responsible for an accidents or injuries that may occur. This person or comapny has the right to refuse anyone that may deem dangerous or incompetent. This leaves the guy putting on the show the responsible party. However,in all the years I have attented and put on shows,I have not yet sen an incident where someone was hurt or tried to sue anyone from it.there was one case at a show last year where a visitor passed out from the heat and tried to blame the sponsor for not providing water coolers around the property to prevent this, but the judge threw it out almost immediately.but like you say,if i screw up and someone gets hurt, its MY fault and I should be responsible for it.

I was concerned about the same thing. My home owners insurance said they would cover my tractors until I told them I was going to take them to shows and run them on the road from time to time, at that point they said I would not be coverd. I suppose I had to keep them in a locked barn with the wheels off for them to cover them. I checked around and got Event Insurance for them. It covers the liability any place any time. I can take them to shows or on rides any time. I also got inland marine coverage to pay for the tractor if damaged. It will cover the tractors that I have listed at any time and for any damage. If they come off the trailer, roll away, burn, or from vandels they are coverd. It is the same type of insurance a tractor club would have. It is just a little over $200 per year for the event insurance and the Inland Marine is based on the value of each tractor. One thing you need to make sure is the insurance co. knows exactly what you are doing with them or you might find that they will not cover you because you were doing something they didn't know about. That could be a tough lesson. I was told a lot of things that didn't check out. I understand that farmers can get different coverage that I was not able to get because I don't farm. Good luck and let us know what you were able to get.
