I'm just curious (or ignorant), but what, specifically is a "two ton caterpillar"?

Bob, Prior to Caterpillar using such model designations such as D-2 and D-4, R-2, and R-4 etc, they used One-ton, Two-ton etc. which was a holdover from the Holt tractor Co.

Thanks!

Somehow I missed that one! I have a Cat "THIRTY", and am not very familiar with the era before that!

Bob, I stand coprrected, as the twenty and thirty immediately predeeded the R-2 R-4 RD-2 and RD-4. I missed a whole series there. I was also wrong in that the two ton did appear under the caterpillar name. The two ton was built from 1925-1928. The The twenty from 1927-1934. The thirty from 1927-1932. Then came the R series in 1934 and then RD series in 1936. Sorry for the misinformation.

Darren, There's a Crawler discussion forum here on this site that you may get the feedback you're looking for. If you are wanting a particular part or parts, you can post an ad in the classified ads section. you may get some responses there also. Good luck.
